Here are some questions on number series to test your IQ, aptitude, and mathematical reasoning.

Solution: B. 252, Step 1: Difference between elements, 10,24,44,70…. then again do the difference…14,20,26…. and then again…..6,6,… so the condition is that in step 3 the difference should be 6. Acc. to the condition element comes out to be 252.

**2) 6, 14, 26, 98, ?A. 276 B. 275 C. 220 D. 274**

Solution: A. 276, here the pattern of numbers is 6 = 3^{1} + 2^{1} + 1^{1} , 14 = 3^{2} + 2^{2} + 1^{2} ,and then in every step increase the exponent by 1.

**3) 5, 16, 49, 104, ?A. 171 B. 191 C. 181 D. 161**

Solution: C. 181, here the pattern of no.s is a(1)^{2} + b(1) + c = 5, a(2)^{2} + b(2) + c = 16, a(3)^{2} + b(3) + c = 49. From these equations value of a, b, c comes out to be 11,-22,16 respectively. Now put the values in 5th equation.

Solution: B. 20, watch alternate no. from 1st no. and then calculate the difference. It comes out to be 3. If you check the alternate no.s from 2nd the difference comes out to be 5.

**5) 2, 6, 12, 20, 30, 42, 56, ?A. 61 B. 64 C. 70 D. 72**

Solution: D. 72, when you calculate the difference between the elements you will get a series like this, 4,6,8,10,12,14… where the difference is 2. So next element will be 16 and add it to 56.

**6) 4, -8, 16, -32, 64, ?A. 128 B. -128 C. 192 D. -192**

Solution: B. -128, divide each element with its previous one, it comes out to be -2.

**7) 7, 26, 63, 124, 215, 342, ?A. 481 B. 511 C. 391 B. 421**

Solution: B. 511, here the pattern of no.s is 2^{3} – 1 = 7 , 3^{3} – 1 = 26 , 4^{3} – 1 = 63 and so on. One element comes out to be 8^{3} – 1 = 511.

Solution: A. 147, divide each element by 3, you’ll get a series like this, 4,9,16,25,36 or we can say squares of 2,3,4,5,6…

Solution: A. 14, calculate the difference, it is increasing by 1.

Solution: C. 46, calculate the difference, and then calculate the difference of the difference, it comes out to be 2.

Solution: C. 336, calculate the difference and then calculate the difference of the difference, it is increasing by 1.

A. 144 B. 360 C. 288 D. 216

Solution: B. 360, divide each element with its previous no. You will get a series like this 2,3,4,5…

**13) 3, 7, 6, 5, 9, 3, 12, 1, 15, ?A. 18 B. 13 C. -1 D. 3**

Solution: C. -1, watch alternate no. from 2nd no. and then calculate the difference. It comes out to be 2.

Solution: B. 282, 930, watch alternate no. from 1st no. and then calculate the difference. It comes out to be 30. If you check the alternate no.s from 2nd the difference comes out to be 303.

Solution : B. 1440, divide each element with its previous no. You will get a series like this 2,3,4,5,6…

Solution : (B) 36, every no. in the series is a square of this series, 1,2,3,4,5,6…

Solution : (C) 8, 11 watch alternate no. from 1st no. and then calculate the difference. It comes out to be 3. If you check the alternate no.s from 2nd and then divide each element from its previous alternate no. you’ll get series like this 1,2,3,4,5.

Solution : (D) 143, The series is moving as: 563 + (84) = 647 ,647 – (168) = 479, 479 + (336) = 815, 815 – (672) = 143

Solution : (B) 28,here the pattern of numbers is (a * 3 ) – 2, where a represent each element in series.

Solution : B) 43, watch alternate no. from 1st no. and then calculate the difference.You’ll get a series like this 4,6,8,10 where the difference is 2.
